Our History

LakeRidge Baptist Church began as Southwest Baptist Church back in the 1970s as a result of the ministry of Central Baptist Church that was located in downtown Lubbock.  Their foresight and vision enabled that congregation to purchase ten acres on 82nd Street that was just a two-lane road on the extreme south side of the city.

At first, a ready-built house was placed on the acreage and services were conducted in that house until a larger facility could be completed.  Some referred to that initial building in its remote setting as the “Little House on the Prairie”.  Ultimately, a suitable educational building and sanctuary were constructed for the teaching of the Bible and for worship.
