“For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? …”

Romans 10:13-15a

LakeRidge Baptist Church takes this scripture to heart by faithfully supporting members of the body who are called to go and share the gospel in other places. In July 2018, the church sent Sally Quiroz to join with an Overseas Bible School (OBS) team coordinated by Evangelistic International Ministries (EIM) to conduct Bible School at a local elementary school in La Flecha, Honduras. Michael Goodwin, President of EIM, and Alicia Jackson, EIM OBS Coordinator, led the team of 12 brothers and sisters from Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy, Arkansas. Manuel and Maira Lepe, EIM Honduran coordinators, joined the team at the San Pedro Sula airport.

The team proceeded to Quimistan, a small town in the department of Sta. Barbara where they headquartered at a small local inn. During the following week, the team had the opportunity to worship with a local congregation at the Iglesia Bautista Esrnirna in La Flecha. Monday through Thursday, the team went each day to a different local elementary school to share the gospel of salvation and distribute Shepherd’s Bags to schoolchildren. Each afternoon, over 250 children at the Escuela Petronila  Barrios de Cabaña in La Flecha heard the gospel in Bible stories, songs and games.

Sally had the opportunity to lead the children in music, teaching them songs in Spanish and English; “He’s got the whole world in His hands” was a favorite.. She also shared the gospel each day with the children’s mothers. An average of 35 women participated in the adult Bible study each day. On Thursday afternoon, all parents were invited to attend the Bible School closing program. At that time, Michael Goodwin preached the Gospel from Ephesians 2 to over 120 parents. During the week, many children and parents responded to the invitation to accept Christ as Savior.

EIM has already scheduled OBS teams to several countries for 2019 including the Philippines, Tanzania, Romania and Honduras. Please pray that we may continue to have opportunities to “send”, that many will respond to the call to “go” that others may hear and come to salvation through faith in Christ.
